Obviously this is a huge acquisition for New Jersey or any other team for that matter. Ilya Kovalchuk is a superb sniper and a Top 5 offensive forward in the league. To pair him up with other talented forwards (Parise, Elias, Zajac, Rolston, Langenbrunner, etc), a steady and sound (if not spectacular) defense corps, the game's greatest between the pipes in Brodeur and a top level coach in Lemaire, does this place the Devils as the team to beat?

I think we should have taken a look at Miroslav, with the abysmal scoring output we currently have on the wings, it couldn't get any worse. Never know, might excel with Propal and Gabby...It's all about the chemistry....

I'm very surprise to see more and more Avalanche victories against good teams.
Compared to next year they are very strong on this beginning of this season. They have beaten Sharks, Bruins, Red Wings, Carolina and they are 2nd of the league.

I don't know the players but if they continue like this they will create the surprise in NHL

After last nite's performance against a gritty Panther team, Crosby yet once again has proven why, imho, he is the most valuable player on the Pens: PP goal, SHG in regulation... shootout winner... 25.50 mins. of ice time... +1... The NYR should be so lucky to get a guy like this in the draft... As for the Pens; After being completely outplayed for much of the 1st 2 periods, they never quit & found a way to win... The back-up goalie, B. Johnson, saved the day with some nifty...
