Blair Betts still hasn't been signed. Dude's gotta be desperate to play and get a paycheck. Why not scoop him up now for cheap? He's always a solid
player. Maybe won't help score goals but the Rangers essentially got to the playoffs with their penalty kill and goal keeping, and Blair Betts was the main
piece of that penalty kill in my opinion.

Yeah but the system has potential to crumble if Gaborik gets injured and the offense starts sputtering again. Look what happened in the last 3 games of the
playoffs. they need a back up and if they could sign Betts to a low contract it doesn't seem like a bad deal. Now, if the Rangers can pull off a deal for
richards or heatley still, then it doesn't matter, bu right now the team's at risk because they really don't have the multiple offensive weapons
that torts had in Tampa

well they have a few goal scorers, Higgins, Kotalik, Callahan, and a few more guys who are capable of scoring 20+, but yea maybe Betts would be a good fill in
guy, but then again why put Betts there when we could give a prospect a shot

Oh yeah. I'd def be down to give grachev or someone a shot but based upon the rangers track record there more likely to give Doug weight a one-year
contract or smthing before that before giving a prospect a chance

Rock, Doug Weight signed 1 more year with the Islanders lol and besides if we signed him, i would put him on the 1st line with Gaborik

lol something i've been preaching for a while 4thehorde... it's not going to happen... people hold on to betts like he's Wayne Gretzky... he was a
specialty player at best... our 4th line now is about intimidation and physical play, not pking... if we have to sign a guy for 2 mil because of pk what does
that tell us as far as confidence in our star players... 1 they don't have what it takes to play defensively, and 2 we are more concerned with the pk than
actually scoring... there is no need to worry excessively about a pk... our star players will handle it fine... drury is one of the best 2 way forwards in the
game... dubinsky has become a great 2 way player... callahan is a great 2 way guy... higgins is a great two way guy... Staal and Girardi are lock down dmen...
what is there to worry about... i mean all the guys who will probably pk can score as opposed to two guys who just dumped and hung around our own blue line
waiting for the next attack...

Betts hasn't signed a contract because 30 NHL GM's know he is a useless player right now.
The current NHL requires players have more to offer than killing a penalty. Betts is useless. Just like Dawes, Prucha and Kalinin. I still think Korpikoski has upside. lol. |

Korpo was wack. I see what everyone is saying but i was thinking since Betts hasnt been signed yet we could offer him the league minimum or even a minor league
deal. You never know what could happen during the season and Betts was never a bad player in a city where sometimes the media presence alone can kill you

Yeah, you're right. it just kills me to see Betts sitting at home making no money while Aaron Voros is sitting with an NHL contract

im sure someone will sign him.. a team like san jose who needs to bring in a bunch of players for minimum salaries..
thats the issue though. torts system is either your a scorer.. or enforcer... betts wasnt either.. although keeping sjostrom around on the RW on the 4th line might have worked.. he was only signed for 700k.. less than voros and the same as arnason.. and sjostrom does have some offensive skill.. i love bettsy, he was a great guy for us.. he just doesnt work under torts system.. its his team now |

well sjo could score.. he just wasnt put in situations too...
i much rather have lisin than korpi.. he has much more potential.. korpi had like 14 points inn 70 games last year.. playing with dubi and cally on the third line who both had 40 points... and prucha was the man guys.. come on.. dawes and kalinin i could do without.. but i liked pruuucha hhaha.. he had a 47 points season.. than a 40 points season.. than a 17 point season.. than he wasnt given a chance.. he put up 10 points in 19 games for the coyotes... keeps that up hes in for a 45 point season.. for 1.1 mil.. sounds nice to me... plus he might have worked under torts system haha.. who knows.. either way i wish him luck in his career.. |
